This project aims to raise urban extreme poor households in 10 areas of Dhaka City Corporation by enhancing their financial security, promoting gender equality, and ensuring access to essential social services. It seeks to reduce violence against women and girls while empowering marginalized communities, including Dalit and Adivasi women, to live with dignity. Additionally, the project will provide sustained education support for underprivileged children, minimizing dropout rates and development a child-friendly learning environment through a dedicated Day Care Centre. By addressing these key challenges, the project strives to create a more inclusive and equitable society for all.

Goal: To adoptive holistic development and a brighter future for urban extreme poor households in 10 areas of Dhaka City Corporation by sustainably enhancing income, promoting gender equality, ensuring access to basic social services, reducing violence against women and girls, and supporting the comprehensive well-being of underprivileged children.

Specific Objective: Uplift urban extreme poor households in 10 areas of Dhaka city corporation by enhancing their income, promoting gender equality and empowerment, ensuring access to basic social services, reducing violence against women and girls, and supporting underprivileged children through education and a child-friendly Day Care Centre, fostering holistic development for a better future.

Outcome – 1

  1. Conduct livelihood needs assessment
  2. Develop tailored livelihood training programs
  3. Organize skill development training
  4. Provide financial support to start the business
  5. Provide mentorship and coaching to participants

Outcome – 2

  1. Facilitate women’s empowerment workshops
  2. Provide legal awareness sessions on domestic violence
  3. Establish support groups for women
  4. Collaborate with local schools and educational institutions to integrate gender equality awareness into the curriculum

Outcome – 3

  1. Collaborate with local health authorities to organize health camps
  2. Workshops on government schemes with women and other stakeholders
  3. Organize legal awareness workshops to inform residents of their rights
  4. Set up counselling and support services for mental health

Outcome – 4

  1. Continued education for underprivileged children
  2. Organize learning visit /Children gathering/ Annual sports for day care children
  3. Collaborate with local schools for enrolment
  4. Organize regular feedback sessions with children, parents and educators

Achievements:

  • 40 women have been provided skill development training. As a result of training and support, the
    average monthly income of the beneficiary women has increased by 10%.
  • 10 children have been assisted in school admission/re-admission and work has been done to ensure
    their regular attendance.
  • 30 underprivileged children have been provided with the foundation of social values and morality
    through the Shishu Shiksha Kendra (Day Care Center).
  • Community Awareness: 2 awareness meetings/workshops have been organized on gender equality and
    women’s rights, in which 30 people participated.
