About

With funding from GFATM through BRAC, we launched the program covering a total of 710171 people comprising women, children, slum dwellers, commercial sex workers and people living with HIV who live in congested urban settlements having little ventilation, hygiene and sanitation in July 2015 and sets to continue till NOW. Among them we especially targeted the TB suspect’s people who are suffering from the disease. These people have little knowledge of this deadly disease and little or no access to health care services. We provide Directly Observed Treatment by Short course (DOTs) & Microscopy support for Acid Fast Bacilli (AFB) investigation support at free of cost in collaboration with the principal recipient-1 National Tuberculosis Program (NTP) and BRAC, the principal recipient-2.

Target Beneficiaries

Target beneficiaries of this project will be 7,10,171 populations; specially women, children, workers and floating people, slum dwellers, CSWs, PLHIV who are more vulnerable to TB but do not have adequate access to TB services.

Working Area

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC): Project area consist of 7 wards -ward no 20, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 and 36.

Activities

    • Promoting early detection of smear positive patients at all levels.
    • Implementing quality assurance system for smear microscopy by our 4 laboratories and microscopic center.
    • Diagnosis of pulmonary, extra pulmonary and childhood TB.
    • Ensuring Directly Observed Treatment by short course regimen (DOTs) through community.
    • Maintaining high treatment success rate above 96% among diagnosed and positive patients.
    • Implementing standardized recording & reporting system to NTP (National Tuberculosis Program) and BRAC.
    • Conducting regular supervision, monitoring & evaluation of program performance and impact.
    • GFATM TB Control Program Nari Maitree provides some charges of others investigation which are required for TB patients through BRAC.
      • Social Support bill those who goes to designated TDC (Tuberculosis Diagnostic Center) for CXR and Sputum for Gene XPert. those investigation are free of cost.
      • we can support by bill for FNAC, MT, CBC, Pleural fluid cytology , USG and other investigation need for diagnosis of TB in limited amount.
      • Anti -Tubercular drug free of cost as per need.

 

  • Ensuring diagnosis and management of drug registrant TB through NIDCH Mohakhali. Some supportive and nutritional bill is given through BRAC to the MDR pt.
  • Establishing linkage for management of TB HIV co-infection.
  • We organize some orientation programs to build awareness and give correct information about tuberculosis.

DOTs and our others activities which are given below::

  • Orientation program for cured TB patients.
  • Orientation program for community leader / religious leader / Teacher.
  • Orientation program for non graduate pp (Pharmacist / Medical representative / Village Doctor).
  • Orientation program for graduate private practitioner (GPP)
  • Arrange free medical camp for suspected tuberculosis presumptive.

Achievement:

Year- 2016

  • Total number of presumptive TB case tested – 5,414
  • Number of TB patients identified- 1,550
  • Treatment Success rate – 94%

Year-2017

  • Total number of presumptive TB case tested – 5,723
  • Number of TB patients identified- 1,772
  • Treatment Success rate – 95.4%

Year-2018

  • Total number of presumptive TB case tested -5,845
  • Number of TB patients identified- 1,993
  • Treatment Success rate – 96%

Year-2019

  • Total number of presumptive TB case tested – 6,214
  • Number of TB patients identified- 2,116
  • Treatment Success rate – 96.47%

Year-2020

  • Total number of presumptive TB case tested – 6,414
  • Number of TB patients identified- 1,556
  • Treatment Success rate – 97%

In reaching the target people the project staff carried out social mobilization at massive scale by way of organizing orientation sessions for the cured patients, holding meetings with community leaders, orientation to the village doctors, pharmacists and graduate medical practitioners.

In year 2020, we work solely in COVID 19 pandemic period. We were reach at the houses when patients are unable to reach center to take medicine. By maintaining proper safety we till now working in the benefits of the patients.
