Under the Nagorikata: Civic Engagement Fund, Nari Maitree is implementing the project Strengthening Community and Institutional Response to Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation in selected wards of Dhaka North City Corporation. The project emphasized community outreach, stakeholder coordination, and capacity strengthening to prevent and respond to child sexual abuse and exploitation and gender-based violence. Key activities included community consultations, awareness sessions, engagement with youth and parents, and coordination with local duty-bearers and service providers. These interventions enhanced community awareness, improved reporting pathways, and strengthened local protection mechanisms, contributing to increased civic engagement and a more responsive child protection environment at the urban level.

Project Goal
To enhance the voice, representation, and participation of civil society organizations (CSOs), particularly those representing women, youth, and marginalized communities, in addressing Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) across all levels in Bangladesh.
Outcome

Outcome 2: Expanded Cooperation, Partnerships, and Networks among civil society entities
Outcome 3: Increased interaction and dialogue between civil society entities, individual citizens, and GOB representatives towards more responsive and inclusive policies

Achievements:
Overall, the interventions strengthened the capacity of children, adolescents, youth, parents, schools, communities, CSOs, government representatives, and other stakeholders to prevent and respond to child sexual abuse and exploitation in both online and offline environments. The project contributed to stronger child and youth participation, community awareness, school-based protection, referral mechanisms, multi-stakeholder coordination, youth-led digital advocacy, and access to psychosocial support, while also strengthening local and national child protection systems.
