Mst. Mithila Akter Yanur, a 6-year-old girl, comes from a low-income family of five members, including her parents, two brothers, and herself. Currently, the family lives in a small slum in Rayer Bazar, Mohammadpur, Dhaka, while their permanent home is in Bhashanchar village of Barishal district.

Yanur’s father, Md. Miraj, migrated to Dhaka in 2018 in search of better livelihood opportunities. Back in the village, he worked as a fisherman, catching fish from the river using nets. Hoping for a better future, he moved to Dhaka with support from his elder brother. Initially, he worked in transporting goods
using an auto-rickshaw and is now working as an auto-rickshaw driver. Yanur’s mother, Mst. Ima, works as a domestic worker and earns around BDT 5,000 per month, while her father earns approximately BDT 8,000. With such limited income, it has been extremely difficult for the family to manage daily expenses, provide sufficient food, and ensure education for their children.
At this critical time, a Child Learning Center was established in Rayer Bazar, Mohammadpur, implemented by Nari Maitree with the support of Karuna Trust. Through a baseline survey, Yanur was selected as a beneficiary of this center, marking the beginning of a positive transformation in her life.
Currently, Yanur is a regular participant at the Child Learning Center, where she is engaged in learning and recreational activities. She also receives nutritious meals three times a day and benefits from a safe and supportive environment, which is contributing significantly to her overall development.

Furthermore, on 20 December 2025, with the support of Nari Maitree, Yanur was enrolled in a sponsorship-based school run by JAAGO Foundation. This opportunity has relieved her family from the financial burden of education. Yanur is now attending school regularly and is growing up with hope and aspiration for a better future.
Yanur’s parents are extremely happy and grateful for the support they have received. What was once beyond their capacity has been made possible through the intervention of Nari Maitree. They have expressed their heartfelt gratitude and hope that this support will continue in the future.
This success story clearly demonstrates how targeted support and access to opportunities can transform the life of a child and pave the way for a brighter future.
