Child Rights Week-2023
Nari Maitree organized different activities in this week (2-8 October) to celebrate Child Rights Week-2023. More than 4000 children participated from 20 Govt. primary schools and community Schools of Dhaka North and South city through the Equitable and Quality Education for the Children of Disadvantaged and Indigenous Communities project. Local government (Councilor), govt. and community school teachers, school management committee members, community people and Nari Maitree staff participated to encourage the children.
The main objective of the event was to make children aware of their rights, protection strategies and how to report if they will face any kind of harassment. From Nari Maitree take different kinds of initiatives to make Child Rights Week as child-friendly and successful. Initiatives were mention bellow:
- 50 children participated in rally, discussion meeting and cultural program in Bangladesh Shishu Academy at National level.
- Art competition with 200 children in 5 schools
- 3000 children of 20 schools were participated the rally which was led by Youth
- Arranged football pretty match where 30 girls participated.
- Prize giving ceremony.
Children shared that they were very happy to participate these kinds of events of child rights week-2023. School teachers also complement that, it is important to celebrate this week separately for the children. Children can learn more about them to participate these kinds of initiatives. Mr. Abul Kalam Azad, Headmaster of Sabuj Biddya Niketon Government Primary School he said while expressing his feelings,
“Thanks to Nari Maitree and Educo Bangladesh for organizing such a wonderful participatory event for the child rights week celebration.” Mim Akter participated the football match and selected as a best player and she receive the best player award. She said that, “I am very happy to arrange the football match for the girls; I want every girl’s child get opportunity to play football at local and national level.”
