Trafficking against Women & Children

As we know human trafficking is violation of human rights, So, Nari Maitree has strategically chosen/identified the targeted audience especially marginalized and deprived young women; children and adolescents are the main victim of violation human rights due to non-accessibility in all sectors of social supports and discrimination and they are living with high risk for trafficking.

Nari Maitree is working on women issue since 1996 in Jamalpur district. During implementation of the different activities close relation with the families NM staff observes that some family members are complaining that they have lost their children but still they do not know whether their children are alive or not. Some times women have gone with the men by marriage but they are not traced.

As trafficking, is a complex problem with serious visible and invisible impact especially on children and women. Six major approaches were identified in a groundbreaking study on trafficking as (i) a moral problem, (ii) a problem of organized crime, and law and order, (iii) a migration problem, (iv)a labor problem, (v) a public health problem, and (vi) a human rights issue.

Nari Maitree feels that to combat the problem of child and women's trafficking in the long run, a massive prevention program is needed for raising awareness of different interest groups stakeholders on social dynamics of trafficking; sensitize the local community leaders and the community. The purpose of mounting a comprehensive information and education based activities to help communities to understand the risk in an effort to prevent traffickers from being able to deceive them.
