Non Formal Education

Education is one of the basic rights of human being. Education is the key to the development of a country. Compared with the other countries of the world, Bangladesh is still lagging behind in this respect. To contribute for increasing the literacy rate of the country, Nari Maitree introduces Non- Formal Education Program under several different projects and innovate community need based and life oriented education system for the children, adolescent and women.

Education Center and System:

NM is operating different education system for different types of stakeholders that are quoted below:

	Community Learning Center (CLC) based Non-formal and Basic Education for Adolescents and Adults
	Learning Space based Non Formal Education for Sponsorship Children
	Reflect Center based Reflect Education for Adolescent Boys and Girls
	Day Care Center based Non Formal Education for Pavement Dwellers
	Adolescent Family Life Education (AFLE) for Adolescent Boys and Girls
	Peer Education for Street and Brothel Based Commercial Sex Workers (SBSW & BBSW)
	Multi Purpose Center based Non-Formal Education for Child Labors

Curriculum and Primer Development:

iNari Maitree introduces different types of curriculum and primer for their targeted learners according to their needs in the project areas. In some projects, NM follows the curriculum and primers of Dhaka Ahsania Mission, CLPTP and Govt. Text Books as well as develops several primers based on different adolescent issues.

Adolescent Family Life Education (AFLE):

The adolescents of the working community are the victims of dowry, early marriage and a huge number of adolescents are deprived of share of the properties of their parents (in case of Garo Community). Violence, torture, divorce are also common. At the community level, most of the marriages are not registered .As a result; a male/man can leave a woman/wife at any time without any obligation. To protect these adolescents from the said unjust and social vices, NM has developed a primer on different adolescent based life oriented issues like health & hygiene information, puberty, menstruation management, gender development, prevention of early marriage, marriage registration and legal education etc.
